TP Thursday: The Joy of Travel

I like the concept of 'continuing the journey in the afterlife'; it's particularly comforting to those who embrace travel as a passion. As we look back on our journeys. . . Did we find joy? Most certainly.  Did we bring joy? We hope so. How would you answer those questions?

    Beautiful post and picture selections. We definitely find joy everywhere we travel. Kids have a way of finding joy in the most common and mundane things. Unfortunately, we haven't practiced bringing joy as much. One of these days, we'd love to do a volunteer trip to bring joy to other children.

      We once hosted a party at our then-Mexico home for some 30 children who lived at Casa Hogar, the orphanage in Puerto Vallarta. It was such an amazing experience. . .as you said they loved, the simpliest of things: rocks, the garden hose. . .it was pure joy for everyone.

    A lovely post Jackie. I love seeing the happiness and joy on childrens' faces in the remote towns and villages of India and Africa when you spend time with them, take photos and chat to them. I'm comforted by the fact that I may be able to keep travelling in the after life. I never want to stop travelling!

      Glad you enjoyed it. I do hope to keep those questions in mind on future travels as I am experiencing them and to make notes in my travel journal about the 'joys' of travel.

    I think it is always to find easier to joy while traveling, but equally as important to try and find it in daily life. Something to strive for :) Your evening fiest of baguette, cheese, and wine in that setting looks like pure joy :)

    I like the question about bringing joy to others. we certainly need to stop and do that sometimes because travel can easily become a selfish pleasure.

      That is the real question isn't it? I sometimes wonder how we do come across to those whose cities and countries we visit? Hopefully, full of joy.
